But who's looking down?
And so it is
An Antarctic Reunion
The familiar feeling of being in a strange and extreme place.
I arrived to McMurdo, as scheduled, on Friday, October 12th. The plane ride was awesome: clear views of the Tranantarctic Mountains the entire time!
The sky was clear and the temperature was a balmy 0 degrees with a windchill in the negative 20's. Temperate for this time of year.
The reunions were glorious. My liver and hair paid for it. I'm less man now, more hawk.
Saturday I received training on all the cargo vehicles: flat bed trucks, deltas, loaders small and large. So far my best day as a DA is worse than my only day as an Air transportation specialist.
My job involves sitting in heavy machinery and moving pallets. The kicker is that I get to do it in front of the Transantarctic mountains and Mount Erebus. How sweet it is.
My awe for this place has not receded. Its just an awesome place.
Things are looking up: my lovers are here and my job is outside.
How sweet it is!
